So....I have decided as part of my new at resolution beginning 3 days ago.....that I would blog 100 days in the life of my twins...Today has been a stressful day and frankly not at all in the frame of mind to be penning down ,it is at the end of the day, a slice of life. What's a life, if not without it's dose of ups and downs, to be more specific when it rains it pours
As i woke up today I found waiting at the door ,lo and behold ,a second nanny .She wanted me to try her out or should i say try me out.Now any new person I have to entrust my precious babies with ,makes me highly nervous. So began one of the most tumultuous days since the twins birth. I told the new nanny her set of duties and surprisingly there was not really much that needed to be done as I had got into the rhythm of making do with one nanny.
After bathing and seating the babies into their high chairs for their breakfast routine with their papa I headed for my hot shower. On return , Keshu informed me that yasho had downed two mini glasses of freshly brewed juice of some beets and carrots ,which is something he has been doing for a while now.I was pleased and proceeded to check up on the new nanny....when suddenly yasho puked. I was alarmed as its been a few months since he has thrown up anything. He seemed fine after that however and was soon changed into a fresh pair of onesie. I ushered Keshu out the door as today of all days , our driver took the day off and I didn't want him to catch the morning traffic snarl.
I settled down into the couch for my breakfast ,watching my fave sitcom of the moment, rerun of Ugly Betty. Suddenly yasho threw up again and started bawling. I sprung up from the couch and picked him up as the nanny rushed to get a change of clothes.Sensing something was amiss with my lil oneI called up Keshu and asked him to come home rightaway. The cook rushed in seeing the ensuing mellee and insisted that the juice brewed by her was not to be blamed. Her eyes welled up and I told her don't worry , it was not her fault at all.
Yasho in the meantime refused to calm down and puked again over me which is when I went into a panic mode. I made a mad dash for the colony pediatricians home-cum clinic with my two nannies in tow. Yasho , meanwhile started to drift off, the cool breeze and my rocking waddle lulling him to sleep.we waited at her clinic as the doctor was not in yet, when yasho started getting restless again.A family member of the doc peeked down and told me she would be down any minute. I yelled back saying its an emergency.i kept waking around the road claiming yasho down as I must have prayed too all the Lords in the universe, asking them to take care of my baby. Every millisecond delay seemed like an eon .Keshu had to park at home as there is no parking around , another delay that could have been averted had the driver been around today. When it rains , dude , it pours.
Anyways editing out the ensuing panic in me and cutting to the chase, the doctor arrived gave him an injection as I patiently waited out on keshus orders, gathering Nayani up in my arms. There is an unwritten rule in our family that whenever anyone gets pricked mama goose has to extract herself from the vicinity , given her gentle disposition to all things pain inducing. Yasho was fine by now and plonked his head onto his papa's shoulder and clutching a tiny fistful of his sweater in his paw drifted off.
I then asked the doctor to give me some quick lessons in pediatric first aid , something I have been wanting to do for he longest time. All things ending well , waved a cheery bye to the doctors family who had goodnaturedly waited around to see everything had ended well.
But the day was not yet over and the downpour had still not finished .As an aftermath of the morning mad dash out of the house and not being wrapped in a blanket chinu came down with a fever. The rest of the day she just wanted to be with me and took up permanent residence in my lap.luckily the fever subsided by midnight and set slept fitfully after that . Even though it was pitch dark outside I felt a glimmer of ray beginning to spread its warmth and the deluge receding and tricking down.
Lessons learned:
When it rains , it pours ,both the good and the bad. During the deluge put your running shoes on,lace up and sprint on till you hit the clear skies. When the skies are clear just lie on your back and revel in the sunshine.
